Two Dogs and a Puppy

It's been a couple weeks, but I have to show you these three dogs. The puppy is the white-with-brown one. He belongs to Emily (remember her wedding in December?). The other two are her mother-in-law's. Emily's Mom came along for the session, too, and we were all having a great time.

I love it when she cocks her head like this:
He's perfect in our latest teacup:
What can I say? He's a puppy and full of energy. But a bit pooped out right here.
Always a princess:
Gotta love the tongue (more dog tongues in the slideshow).
We got him settled down a bit for a more formal pose -- but he was still ready to jump up!
Be sure to watch the slideshow for more pictures.

Tea Pups

Once again, we're photographing a new litter of White German Shepherd puppies. These are just three-and-a-half weeks old. They had just started hearing that morning and their eyes are now open. It was fun using the teacups again.

We're planning on doing another set of portraits in a couple weeks so stay tuned for that.

Here's the slideshow. Leave a comment!

Coca Bunny passed on

Our rabbit, Coca, died this morning. I was up with him all night making sure he didn't hurt himself. He had "head tilt" come on suddenly. That's when a rabbit's head turns and they can't keep their balance. He kept sort-of hopping in circles, losing his balance, and violently rolling trying to regain his balance. Rabbits' backs break fairly easily so he had to be watched and held.

I took him to the vet early this morning and we decided it was his time to go. He was a brown mini rex: our real "chocolate bunny." One of the most easy-going rabbits I've known -- so good with kids and loved to snuggle. When kids came in for their portraits, often the first thing they did was to run to his cage and pet him.

He was with us for over six years, which is fairly old for a pet rabbit, and will be missed by many people. These pictures were taken when he was just one year old, so they're pretty old.

German Shepherd Puppies

Oh, this was so much fun. I photographed a litter of puppies this evening. Last Spring I had photographed a litter from the same breeder, Steel Magnolia Estates Shepherds, which breeds White German Shepherds. This time the male was not white, but he had the recessive gene (or something like that) so the average should have been about 50/50 for white and non white. Out of ten there were three white ones, and the others are incredibly colored. Real pretty. As always, there's a slide show to be seen. This one's a long one so get a cup of coffee before you see it.
