Shannon and Matt

Shannon and Matt had their wedding reception a couple weeks ago. The wedding was a little earlier in the month -- in Alaska! Typically, destination weddings are in Hawaii, San Diego, or someplace like that -- places a bit more tropical than Alaska. But then, Shannon and Matt aren't all that typical.Since they didn't have their friends and family around for the wedding, they had a reception here in Columbus. We started out with portraits at Highbanks Metro Park, and then moved on to dinner at Hyde Park. There was a surprise fish cake (no, not that kind of fish cake) and some other great moments.

Rockstars!

A little back-story on this one. Way back when I was a freshman in high school (or maybe a sophomore), a friend of mine came back from summer vacation with a new electric guitar. The brand was Squier! I couldn't believe it. And it was actually spelled the "correct" way and everything. Squier is the "value brand" of Fender guitars.
Ever since then (ca. 1982 or 83) I've always wanted one. But, you know, I'm not a guitar player so it was never going to happen. Well, I recently found out that the Squier brand came out with a 3/4 size Stratocaster that was perfect for kids. Now this was something I couldn't really pass up. I got one as a prop. So, we had a lot of fun playing with it and taking pictures. I make a tiny appearance in the slideshow, but don't let that stop you from checking it out. So, turn up the volume and get a cup of coffee -- it's a pretty long slideshow.

Kyle

Kyle is another one of our Senior reps to Dublin Coffman High School. We ended up doing the outside portraits on a different day because it started pouring. In any case, the sessions went really well. Here are a few images. There are lots more in the slideshow.

This next image is one of the very few we did in the rain. If you look closely, you can see the streaks from the raindrops.

We had much better weather the second time around.

Corinne

You might remember I photographed a dancer and her brother several months ago. I blogged about one of the pictures of Corinne earlier this year. Here's the image:Well, Corinne is now about to enter her senior year at Dublin Coffman HS and is one of our Senior Reps. Her session was a few days ago and the portraits look great! Jessica

Last week Jessica came in for her Senior Portraits and what a fun time we had. The weather was beautiful and we got some amazing images.

Doesn't the flare look great in this one. I love it.

I'm so happy with how these turned out. Jessica is one of our senior ambassadors (senior reps) at Dublin Scioto High School so be sure to ask her for a rep card. You'll get some free stuff for bringing it in.

Melissa

Melissa is our first Senior for the class of 2009. We did her portraits on Saturday afternoon, and the weather looked nasty. It poured for the first part -- luckily we were inside. Amazingly, it cleared up just as we were to go outside for that part of the session and it ended up being a beautiful day.Melissa is also one of our Ambassadors to Dublin Scioto High School. Ask her about having your Senior Portraits done at Squier Photography and she'll tell you all about it and give you a card. You'll get some free prints just for turning in her Ambassador Card with your paid session. You don't have to be a Senior at DSHS to take advantage of this offer -- you can be from any High School. Worthington Kilbourne Baseball 2008

A couple months ago I was asked to put together the baseball schedule for the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves baseball team. We had done this once before, two years ago, and it was a lot of fun, so we were excited to do it again.
The poster usually has a photo of the seniors on the team along with the schedule. This time they had a theme for the poster (last time they didn't want one). We were lucky in that we got one of the only warm days in March. There was a big snowstorm the day after these pictures were taken. In the top picture you can see the storm clouds rolling in.

Jared

A few days ago Jared came in for his Sr. Pictures. He was great to work with and we ended up spending a lot of time on his session. Be sure to see his slideshow and leave a comment below.

Happy New Year

Wow! What a crazy last couple of months. We had our best holiday season to date. Sometime this month we'll get our Christmas cards out. For, uh, next Christmas? Yeah, we're really getting a jump on things. ;-)

This post will be a sort-of "catching up" post. We have a lot going on.

First of all, thank you to all of you who stopped by from October through December. We really appreciate every customer. We also appreciate all the referrals we received from people. That's the best kind of advertising there is. And speaking of referrals -- remember, if you're a member of Angie's List, we are listed up there so it would be great to see some comments from you.

We have a picture in the latest issue of Columbus Parent magazine. It's on page 14. We also have an ad on the facing page.



The article is about a little girl with Treacher Collins Syndrome and how the family is working through the issues. The article is online so take a look if you haven't seen the print version. Our image is also on the home page of their Web site right now.

There's a fundraiser for her at Lucé Restaurant and Cafe in Powell on January 24th. There will be a silent auction (we've donated a package) and I think a portion of meals will be donated to the family. The restaurant is located at 3499 Market Street in Powell, Ohio.

In other news, one of our pictures is in the current issue of The Perspective, the student magazine of Dublin Coffman High School.

The article is about Junior Corrinne Haynes, a very talented dancer. Her leaps and moves made for some great images. I'll need to get a copy for our archive.

Our last bit of news for right now is about our new blog contests (coming soon). Each week or so we'll be having a contest with a question. Be the first to answer correctly and you'll win one of several prizes. There will be more details in a later post so check back soon.

Becky

What a fun session this was. Becky came in all the way from Pickerington and brought lots of different outfits. I think we even managed to get pictures of all of them.
We started outside because it looked like it could rain -- luckily it didn't. The light was soft and beautiful with the cloud cover.
Then on to the inside studio pictures. Becky is friends with Lauren and wanted to a lot of the same things she did.
I feel bad because I didn't get her slideshow up until today, so it's a bit longer than usual to make up for it.

Twinsday

Last Saturday was "Twinsday" for us. It's not too often that we get to photograph twins, so it was really amazing that we had sessions with two sets.
First, Morgan and Mariah were here for their senior portraits. They each have their own slideshow (and blog post -- scroll down a bit to see them) so be sure to watch both of them. It turns out that I did a good job matching their names with their images. I would've hated to mix them up, though I'm sure it happens all the time.
In the afternoon we went over to Gavin and Ava's house for their newborn portraits. It was easier to tell these two apart -- Gavin's a bit bigger. And check out that arm in the picture above -- isn't that precious? There's just one slideshow for the two of them. Scroll down to the previous post to watch it.

Remember, almost all of the pictures on this blog link to slideshows. Of course, they don't on this post, but most of them do. ;-)

Today ended up being a busy Saturday, too, so stay tuned for more pictures.

Mariah

Mariah is the twin sister of Morgan (see post below), who also was here for her senior portraits last Saturday. She has her own slideshow for you to see.

Morgan

Last Saturday Morgan came in with her sister, Mariah, for their Senior portraits. We were having so much fun that I ended up with tons of images to sort through. I think the hardest thing was telling them apart.
The slideshow came out really well, too.

Ally

Last week Ally came by for her senior portraits. She's a senior at Dublin Coffman High School and wanted some in-studio portraits. Take a look at the slideshow for more pictures.

Alison

Alison came along with Nick (see below) and her Mom for her senior portraits, too. She was wonderful to work with and the heat outside didn't seem to bother her at all.
She has a slideshow, too, so make sure to watch it.

Nick

Last week Nick came in with his step-sister, Alison, for their senior portraits. We had done his brother's senior portraits a couple years ago so it was nice working with the same parents. The weather was hot -- especially for October. I think we broke some temperature record.

Nicole

Nicole's a senior over at Dublin Coffman. She came in the other day for her senior portraits and we had a great time -- first at the studio and then over at the park.

Marissa

Last week, Marissa came all the way from Centerburg for her senior portraits. She was so excited and had spent a lot of time choosing her outfits before she got here. We have fun with seniors and we tend to go long -- but it's always worth it.

Thomas Worthington Football Poster

Two weeks ago this evening we were over at Thomas Worthington High School to photograph the Football team. They asked us to make a poster with the schedule at the bottom -- you know the posters that are hung in local businesses.

They had the entire Thomas Worthington Football program -- from the Seniors down to the 8th grade teams. Of course, the seniors were highlighted in the front and everyone else was in the back.

We were able to deliver 600 posters to them this past Wednesday, which is fast for offset printing. The posters are pretty big -- 18x24 inches, and turned out beautifully.

All you seniors out there -- come in for your senior portraits before September 30 (that's a Thursday) and get $20 off your portrait package -- but you have to mention this Blog post! If you don't tell us about this post before your session, it doesn't count.

Brittany

Brittany was in for her senior portraits the other day and what a great time that was. She was referred by Holly (Thanks, Holly!) and it couldn't have been better. First we did a few studio pictures.
Then we went outside for the ones she really wanted to do. The white dress is one of her favorites and she couldn't wait to wear it.

Josh and Layne

This portrait session was so much fun. I've been taking these kids' portraits for a few years, now -- watching them grow. There are a couple other kids in the family whose portraits I take at another time of the year but this time was for Josh and Layne. I can't believe Josh will be in High School this fall.

Jenny
